What happens to a veteran Alliance intelligence operative when his organization is resurrected darkly and chooses to bring him back into the fold against his will?

Author's Note

My first World of Warcraft fan fiction was written to support roleplay on my first Alliance character, a gnome rogue named Lokker. The following story, AESOP's Fable, laid the foundation for much of the in-game interaction regarding the "organization" that little Lokker worked for. Because it was the beginning to an in-game RP arc, this take ends somewhat abruptly. I assure you that it was intentional.

Since that time, I've tweaked the story to better fit into the Netherbane mythos. At its heart, it really was a demon-hunter story told within the human lands. It takes place sometime in between the end of The Frozen Throne and the beginning of World of Warcraft. This story's resurrection also lays the foundation for another story arc, which is hinted at in the Epilogue.
